Events change. The need for context remains.

Markets have a memory. Your plan needs perspective

A historical oil-price episode separates an event, its economic transmission and the investor’s response.

Conceptual historical-market artwork; it does not depict a particular event or current price.

Economic history is useful when it explains a mechanism rather than placing dramatic events beside a market chart. Oil is one example: demand disruptions and reopening can affect prices, while the domestic impact depends on other conditions.

An oil-price episode, in context.

Historical annual figures below come from a July 2025 RBI Bulletin article. They are not current prices or a market forecast.

2019–20

Before the disruption.

The RBI article gives an average crude price of US$59 per barrel for 2019–20. This is a historical annual reference, not a daily quotation.

Keep the period attached to the number

Annual averages describe a period; they are not today’s quote. A historical sequence can support questions about transmission and context, but it does not forecast the next move.

Respond to the plan, not the drama

A market event can justify reviewing assumptions, exposures and liquidity. It does not by itself establish that an asset should be bought or sold.
